Off light switch hook

Not too long ago, we reported on electrical engineer Scott Amron's pet project, Die Electric, where he experiments with strange objects that abstractly conserve power. His newest product is the Off light switch hook that grants extra utility to a normal light switch in order to add a real incentive for the user to keep it in the "off" position as often as possible. Lights on? Then you can't hang your undaroos here, sorry...

Actually, I have been looking for something like this. What I want to do is put such hook under a heat lamp and, when I hang my robe on it, it turns the heat lamp above it on, warming my robe. Can I order one?

I feel like it is mixed up. I come home and want to hang up my coat which could turn on the lights. When I grab my coat to leave the lights turn off. So I agree with Matthew, but I don't *always* have a coat to hang up so I'm not sure I'd want to get rid of the light switch altogether.

Sad to say, I was just thinking of rewiring a couple of lightswitches to down. Efficiency takes many forms.... what about timesaving of turning on the light by hanging up your coat? why not take the next obvious step and combine the coatrack and eliminate the switch altogether!

Cute, but what happens when somebody brushes up against the wall or backs into it?...snap, no hook, no light switch.

All very well, but convention in many parts of the world (Australia & Malaysia for example - all Commonwealth countries?) is for DOWN to be ON.
