Wireless networking co. Lantronix is running their 3rd Annual Wireless Design Contest. Entrants need to "develop a creative and practical wireless product using Lantronix's new 802.11 b/g embedded wireless device server module," which sounds complicated, but it's not (read on). First prize is six grand U.S.; second and third are $4,000 and $2,000; best student entry is $3,000; and the most commercially-viable entry gets $2,000.
Last year's winning designs were as follows:
1st - a device to let tranportation companies "acquire objective data" (i.e. spy) on driver behavior.
2nd - a WiFi alarm clock that connects to the internet
3rd - an aquarium that connects to the internet
Come on, you know you can do better! And you've got over six months to do it--the deadline isn't until March '08. Get cracking!
