Design vs. Engineering: Q&A With a Mechanical Engineer on What It's Like to Work With Industrial Designers
Great interview. Creative and collaborative mechanical engineers are worth their weight in gold. I worked with the same engineer for a few years in a row and we built up such a great back and forth that I would show him a sketched concept before I would show anyone else on the design team. What I loved abut working with him was that he never said no. He usually would say "let me think about that for a day"... the next day he'd come back and say "I couldn't quite figure out how to do that, but here are three other ways to do it that might achieve the same goal...". Usually one of those was more interesting than what I was trying to do anyway.
Do stores need to buy this tool, or is it provided along with a contract for selling and installing the screen protectors? What's the ROI on the actual hardware?
"We're all going for that kind of Apple aesthetic, seeking perfection, and they really help us define that."
MEs rock!
An easily solved problem; be qualified in both. A BSc(eng) + M.Des(RCA) isa good mix, for example.
