Why render a sneaker that you yourself would never wear? Because, as industrial designer Eric Strebel explains of his self-described Ugly Shoe Rendering, "These are the marker colors I had with me at the time of the sketch demo." Those of you trained in traditional studios or at design schools prior to CG will know this feeling well; you don't have the tools you want on hand, but still have to make it work.
