Furniture For Food: A Lamp that Lights Your Home and Grows Your Veggies
It looks like the container is clay; wonder why they didn't take advantage of the water retention ability of clay and instead opted for a stainless insert; then it makes the clay container irrelevant, could've been any material. Looks nice.
It does look nice, and that is probably part of why they chose to use a stainless insert. Without the insert, the lamp would exhibit blotchy saturated sections/patterns when watered. It's hard to tell from the photos, but I'm also guessing the insert in doughnut shaped to keep everything contained to the outer edge where it is easily accessible.
