Spotted on an appliance blog: LG's bizarre combination-microwave-toaster. Will this product be successful? You tell us--it came out two years ago, have you heard of it or seen it before?

I like it!

clean looking!!
We don't toast a lot in our household so a dedicated toaster would make no sense. While I often believe hybrid devices give the worst of both and the best of neither, this one actually works and I'm very happy with it.
You can't use them both at the same time, so if you like to synchronize your toasting and microwaving, this isn't for you.
Oh, Janet, there's a crumb tray under the toaster part so it's not hard to clean. You can't see it in the pic because it's below the toaster compartment, blocked by the door when it's open.
I should add that the microwave I did end up getting has a sister unit with one of those god-forsaken control knobs. So when I want to cook something on 50% power I have to press the "cook power" button SIX TIMES as it counts backward from 10 to 5. On the other unit you hit the power button, then dial in what you want, then hit time, and then dial in again. What was wrong with hitting "cook power," "5," plus the time and "start"? That's only 5-6 buttons if you're cooking for less than 10 minutes.
i really needed the space-saving aspect of it and i liked the look, but im pretty disappointed overall. (and back to a cheap little toaster that i have to pull out of a cabinet every morning.)
We have a small kitchen so the space saving size was a huge plus for us.
