The Vision
When our commercial client approached us, they sought not just warmth, but a statement: an outdoor firepit that would serve as a visual anchor—a functional artwork in their landscape. The goal: transcend traditional utility and transform a fire feature into an architectural, sculptural focal point.
We joined forces with Kelray Fire Pits, renowned for their precision-crafted, material-savvy outdoor fire features and infrared outdoor heaters. Kelray's signature approach—melding aesthetic form with rugged performance—aligned perfectly with our ambition. Their outdoor gas firepits, available in Corten (weathering steel), stainless steel, or hot-rolled steel, are designed for both wood and gas, and celebrated as "more than heat—modern design statements"
Opting for a 316 stainless steel finish—celebrated for its durability in harsh environments and structural refinement—we ensured the firepit would endure and retain its clean aesthetic. Kelray's marine-grade stainless steel is engineered to resist corrosion and backed by enduring craftsmanship The material choice underlines both elegance and longevity, ideal for high-traffic commercial use.
The selected Kelray "Cascade" model features a meticulously sculpted array of fins, creating rhythm and visual intrigue as flames flicker through the structure. Whether staged as a medium, large, or rectangle variant, these fins are as much visual poetry as they are functional heat radiators.
The firepit is adaptable—able to burn wood or gas, with gas capability added via modular kits, allowing seamless fuel switching quickly on-sit. This flexibility was essential for our client's varied event needs, from cozy gatherings to high-turnover commercial functions.
Despite its sculptural complexity, the large outdoor firepit is practical: it clicks together without bolts or welding, allowing easy assembly, disassembly, and relocation. After the fire has burned out, the fins radiate heat and cool rapidly, and the entire unit can be hand-disassembled in minutes—ideal for dynamic commercial environments.
The result was a captivating centrepiece: a firepit that looks like art and performs like a champion.
