Second Sight's legacy product, ArgusĀ® II, was approved by the FDA for the treatment of retinitis pigmentosa. Pulse worked with Second Sight Medical to develop an update to this wearable device system.
Ergonomic studies, prototyping, and design iterations enabled our design team to create a new innovative solution. The ArgusĀ® III was designed as a pair of symmetrically balanced glasses with an integrated camera in its single molded lens frame. It sought to be more lightweight and attractive than it's predecessor.
Implanted in 350+ individuals worldwide, restoring functional, artificial vision by renewing light perception and transforming the daily experience in the majority of individuals. Pulse began this interesting project with user research at USC, John's Hopkins and other teaching hospitals examining human factors. Working with Second Sight to we developed multiple mechanical designs for testing fit and inductive coupling with the implant.
