Studio RedEye partnered with XTECH Protective Equipment to develop the X2 shoulder pad line. Designed from the ground up, the product meets the demands of high-impact play while maximizing mobility and comfort. We led the full development process, from early concept exploration through production-ready CAD, combining industrial design and mechanical engineering in-house.
Built to withstand over 1500 lbs of force, the shell structure was engineered for impact durability, ergonomic fit, and efficient manufacturability. We fine-tuned geometry, wall thickness, and material interfaces to balance stiffness with targeted flex, ensuring the pads perform under extreme conditions.
A key innovation is the patented 3-point pivot system, which improves range of motion and makes the pads easier to put on and remove. This mechanism shaped the overall architecture and layout of the product.
The form was shaped to reflect strength, motion, and protection. Bold contours and angular transitions give the product a compact, athletic stance, while clean surface breaks create visual clarity and structure. It looks fast, focused, and built to perform—reinforcing the product's durability and on-field intent.
Since launch, the X2 has become a cornerstone of XTECH's lineup, trusted by athletes at the NFL, collegiate, and high school levels for its blend of comfort, mobility, and elite-level protection.
