A poetic interface that visualizes sound in real time through ferrofluid.
UFaudiO is a sculptural 2.1-channel speaker designed to transform audio into a living visual experience. By combining sound with the hypnotic motion of ferrofluid, this speaker blurs the line between science and art, technology and emotion. Each beat of music is echoed by the dance of a black magnetic liquid, making sound tangible and mesmerizing.
Born out of a desire to reconnect users with the physicality of sound, UFaudiO offers a multi-sensory experience where music isn't just heard—it's seen, felt, and emotionally absorbed.

UFaudiO was created by Fusion Lab, a design studio based in Taipei, Taiwan. The project began as an exploration of how kinetic materials could express the invisible nature of sound. After extensive research and prototyping, the team developed a custom-built electromagnet system that controls a sealed chamber filled with ferrofluid—a black magnetic liquid originally developed by NASA.
When the speaker plays music, the electromagnets respond to the frequencies in real time, causing the ferrofluid to move in pulsating waves and spike formations. This creates a unique and ever-changing visual landscape inside the speaker dome, synchronized to the rhythm of the music.
The outer casing is milled from anodized aluminum for structural integrity and sleek aesthetics, paired with solid maple wood feet for visual balance and natural resonance. A soft ambient backlight inside the chamber adds depth and warmth to the kinetic performance.
Functionally, UFaudiO features Bluetooth 5.0 and AUX input, delivering rich 2.1-channel audio through a built-in subwoofer and two full-range drivers. A single analog dial allows users to adjust both light and volume, reinforcing the product's tactile and minimal interface.
UFaudiO is more than a speaker—it's a sculptural object, a kinetic installation, and an emotional amplifier.
