Naïve is a simply constructed wooden chair designed by etc.etc. studio for the Lithuanian furniture brand Emko. The chair uses six equal parts that act as legs and a backrest. This simplifies the assembly and makes production and transportation more efficient. The chair comes flat-packed in a small box and is easily assembled by screwing the six legs into a scooped ash seat.
Our starting idea was to design a chair that can be drawn by a 4 year old - a seat and six sticks. The main challenge was to combine the parts in precise angles and lengths to create comfortable sitting and a welcoming posture.
The chair can be used with and without a soft “pullover" for more comfort and is available in six colours or natural oiled ash. Besides that, the user is able to mix the colours of all parts.
Naïve chair will be presented at Maison et Objet this week together with etc.etc. previous design for Emko - 'My writing desk’.
