In the modern age, we often keep our eyes on screens instead of on our surroundings; our hands are now busy pushing buttons instead of making crafts. How would it be if we turned back to the mindset of primitive peoples, who scavenged and created in accordance with elements of the land? In an attempt to explore this question, Wen-wei Chang came out with this conceptual desk accessories set, Road Made.

The Road Made project began as a focus on the phenomenon and possibilities within the city, stimulating people's intuitive creativity within their everyday environment.
Humans once had an intimate relationship with their environment. In order to survive, we committed ourselves to the exploration of potential of things, so branches turned into spears for hunting, rocks turned into axes for cutting, and bones became needles for weaving. Over these thousands of years where we had to create and adapt according to our environment, humans were very good at observing the possibilities within their landscape and creating objects and tools under the influence of nature.
However, our relationship to our surroundings has changed—nowadays, people live their lives within a digital system, which often causes people to ignore their surroundings that exist in reality. With this particular project, I would like to evoke the power and importance of observation when designing and creating products or objects.
