This week's Projects section will feature works coming from Art Center's brand new Interaction Design Department. The students featured are part of the department's very first graduating class. Each project explores through interactive tech solutions how people think, feel and behave when they encounter a product, place or ecosystem.

Diabetic patients have a tough time adjusting to their new lifestyle; keeping track of pills, blood tests, deciding what to eat, logging what they ate, tracking their fitness, and staying up to date with all this is a challenge. In addition to all this, having a strong emotional support system to give advice and guidance is crucial during this transition.
Peal system aims to create a healthy lifestyle transition for a patient who has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. During the project, I observed how social impact influences our daily behaviors while also exploring how ecosystems can integrate a product into people’s daily life. In this group project consisting of 4 members (product design student, graphic design student, interaction design student), I participated in the concept developing, product mockup and interface developing.
The project uses a technology called occlusion spectroscopy which allows us to make our glucose monitor non-invasive. To take a test, simple place your finger in the device and wait for a few seconds. All of the collected data from the device then transfers to our phone application for easy information access.
Through our app you can keep track of your pills, fitness, diet, and glucose levels giving you a comprehensive picture of your health. Unlike other fitness trackers, we make meaning of your data and notify you when there is something you need to know.
