Gina Kim

As a designer, Gina Kim is intrigued by creating experiences that bring people together in a digital era. Rather than focusing on how digital media can be implemented in people's lives, she aims to use digital media to improve how people engage with each other. She is interested in learning about the future of integrating automation and emerging technologies to create deeper relationships between people and their environments. Her portfolio can be viewed here.

Jessica Yang

My name is Jessica, and I'm a designer that just graduated from the California College of the Arts with a BFA in Interaction Design.

I believe experiences are as diverse as the people who encounter them, and am fascinated by the ways design can help shape our behaviors for the better. I come from an illustration background, which often shows in my work.

My senior thesis is called Potluck, a cooking experience that uses augmented recipes to enhance the connections created while making food with others. Potluck explores how the way a recipe is formatted and presented can change how the people making it collaborate together. This project was created by understanding the social dynamics present when people cook together, accounting for both the highlights and the less savory aspects of coordinating multiple cooks in the kitchen.

Kendra Wong

I was born and bred in the SF Bay Area. As a student at California College of the Arts, I've had the chance to connect both logic and creativity through studying Interaction Design.

I get to think from different perspectives - whether it's a twenty-something year old female or fifty year old man.

As designers, we have the opportunity to shape and impact how we interact with the world around us, create experiences for all - creativity with universal design.

Outside of student life, you can find me binging on the latest Netflix series or binging on new foods.

. . . . .

My project Making Sense pushes participants to explore their senses by focusing on each sense through short activities. All activities are done with eyes closed, as the inspiration stemmed from a project focusing on accessibility for the blind. The project started as a physical, participatory exhibit and was transferred into the virtual world.

Ruitao Liang

Ruitao is an interaction designer based in the East Bay. She enjoys strategizing and building things that are people-centric and essential. For the last two years, She has been working at Tech Exchange, a non-profit organization, providing digital literacy training for residents of senior centers in the Bay Area. Inspired by the interactions with the elderly residents, she wanted to find ways that her design practice could support the community. After speaking with over 50 elderly people, it became clear that many of them want to improve their health. Since she learned that from the research, she decided to create a digital social fitness game, which features motion tracking and music visualization as her senior thesis.
