Entry Number 4078

This timepiece is in the form of a segmented wristband that can be stretched or squished to mimic the user’s changing sense of the speed of the passage of time. The segments are numbered with the hours of the day, and the current time is represented by the relevant segment’s color spreading, from left to right, filling up like the loading bar on a computer. Elastime helps the user to cope with the stress of time that passes too quickly and to find patience when a wait seems interminable.
Chochinov: I love the idea of being able to physically stretch a quantity of displayed time in the hopes that it will force a good time to last a bit longer. I'm not sure that we'll be able to extend time in 150 years, but it's an appealing notion to think that we might be able to extend its appearance.
