Steven heller is a senior art director of the New York Times and the co-chair (with Lita Talarico) of the MFA Designer as Author Program at the School of Visual Arts. He recently co-founded (with Alice Twemlow) the MFA in Design Criticism at SVA. He is the editor of VOICE: The AIGA Journal of Design and The Nose (with Seymour Chwast). He is contributing editor to PRINT, ID, Eye, Baseline and a contributor to Metropolis, the New York Times Book Review, Varoom, and Grafik. He has edited, co-edited or authored over 100 books on design an popular culture, including "Paul Rand," "Merz to Emigre: Avant Garde Magazine Design of the Tweniteh Century," "Stylepedia: A Gude to Graphic Design Mannerisms, Quirks and Conceits," "Euro Deco: Graphic Design Between the Wars," "Anatomy of Design," "Design Literacy Second Edition," "The Education of a Photographer," "The Graphic Design Reader," "Graphic Wit: The Art of Humor in Design," and "Teaching Illustration." Polite Sleeper

Jason and Tim provide the first beat you hear and the last note that rings out on most Core77 Podcasts. Having seemingly cracked the code to what makes a low-fi jingle stick, they graciously provide audio support and mentoring advice from their home studio hidden well under the Williamsburg Bridge. They've toured the world many times over in various hardcore and punk band once hailing from San Francisco, CA. Their latest project is the Brooklyn-based folk punk mess called Polite Sleeper.
Andy Polaine

In 1994, Andy Polaine co-founded the award-winning new-media collective Antirom in London and has worked with clients such as the BBC, Levis Strauss and Co., Yahoo! and The Science Museum as well exhibiting several interactive installations and performances around the world.

Andy was also a producer at dotcom giant, Razorfish, in the UK before moving to Australia where he started the interactive department of visual effects company, Animal Logic. He became a Senior Lecturer in Interactive Media at The University of New South Wales, Sydney and headed the School of Media Arts and the Digital Media programme before leaving to move to Germany, although he still teaches for UNSW online. He has also been a Guest Professor at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany and his research spans emerging cultural futures as well as interactivity and play.

Aside from his academic life he works as an interaction designer, education consultant and writer with a monthly column for Desktop magazine. He also co-convenes the Omnium Creative Network, a critical forum for ethical art and design projects. He blogs at Playpen

Steve Portigal is the founder of Portigal Consulting, a boutique firm that brings together user research, design and business strategy to help innovative companies discover and act on new insights about their customers. He also leads CultureVenture, a group that provides immersive and inspirational experiences in foreign cultures to help executives, project managers, designers and others discover and make sense of the notable differences in other markets.

In addition to regularly speaking at design and marketing events, Steve has taught Design Research at the California College of Art, and is known for his blog, All This ChittahChattah. He is an avid photographer who has a Museum of Foreign Grocery Products in his home.
