Brett Lovelady, founder of ASTRO Studios in San Francisco, has just launched a new, separate company to produce professional gaming products. With ASTRO's 14 years of hardcore video gaming experience (having designed hit products such as Microsoft's Xbox 360, Hewlett-Packard's Blackbird Gaming PC, and the premium line of Alienware Gaming PCs and laptops), ASTRO is deep into the space, and noticed that there wasn't a brand focused on high performance products for pro gamers...and their gaming lifestyle.
In this video for Core77, Brett talks about the new company, ASTRO Gaming, and tours us through their first products--the A40 Audio System--comprised of a design-forward headset & Mixamp. The two products have reset gamers expectations (pardon the pun), and are helping to to take pro gaming to the next level.

I've been looking for a headset like this forever (removable mic) - but at $200, yikes. Judging by the looks and reviews it looks like it's worth it.
I'd like to see a wireless version that uses the Avnera tech like the Creative HS-1200. Full stereo audio with the mic active (unlike limited bluetooth profiles). Also charging via a plugin USB cable that still lets you use the headset as a wired headset when the batteries run low.
although i don't like the look of it, the functions are really nice. seems like they have really put a lot of effort in creating a useful gaming headset.
I like this looks of this retro-techno style. I really wish they would design a regular wireless head-set for $100.00 that is just as snazzy and not as fancy as Bose or other competitors... the market is lacking Astro.. tap that ass...
Yeah, I've been drooling over these for a while.
If nothing else, I might just get the mixamp.
i love a headset like these but can can :( all because Astro dont ship to the UK if i could i would buy these hands down
