We told you about Brand New's year-end wrap up of best and worst logos of 2008, but Armin may have to add an addendum. Celebrated designer Louise Fili gets it SO right with this return-to-glory update. (New one's on the bottom.) The NYTimes today has a sweet write-up with quotes from the designer, and you gotta love the story about the Today Show mistaking the old for the new version. Sad, and perfect.

I personally don't like either of them. It looks like a stamp you would use to grade the quality of a slab of meat. It should have more of a softer look.
As much as I like Louise's work, this new brand is a clunker for me. Maybe it's the use of the overused Neutra typeface, or the lack of energy - it's so plain it's quite static.
retro retro retro. it's already dated.
