This is not a new Bond movie but just as exiting for a hundred chosen candidates. Sven posted earlier about Wired's LEGO article Now, 100 pioneers have been chosen for a sneak preview of MINDSTORMS NXT, the next generation of LEGO robotics.
"9,610 robotics enthusiasts, ages 18 to 75 years of age and representing 79 countries responded during the one-month online application process. Developer program participants have approximately four months to experiment with the product, with the intent of furthering the community-based development process, prior to its availability to the public."
Some hard facts on the 100 candidates:
- Range in age from 18-75 (50% under age 35)
- More than 20% work in the software/QA/DBA sector
- Nearly 20% are teachers or educators
- 13 are architects or engineers
- 40% are from the U.S."

Soft facts might be some classrooms without teachers, sales growth of "please do not disturb" signs, or your engineer proposes you a four months lunch break ;) Anyway, the best fact is that this community-based development process allows enthousiasts to turn their obsession into innovation - a great case study towards "everyone is a designer" if you ask me.
