Great work! These are wonderfully bad ideas. Would love to see more CoreToons!
excellent return to form! :D (i want the small game trophy mount)
I actually use a monocle from time to time. I think the wrist carrier notion has some merit.
ooh... luscious
OMG, you invented...bracelets...
I so much appreciate the lighter side of the inventive spirit. Thank you!
Obsolete? I just bought a LunaTik watchband for my iPod nano 6g. I'm so outta the loop.
love it
Fun(ny) ideas, but cell phone as watch is still sort of a situational thing.
Especially at certain workplaces, where the cellphone isn't supposed to be on you (aka visible).
based on the commemorative idea, I would like to add the "commemorative watch" idea, which would look like a small statue watch made of concrete. good for workin' out as well.
Nobody should go without a fashion accessory. Personally, I wear my accessories on my shoulders.
I always take my watch off at work. After 4-5 hours of typing, I feel a ton easier to move my hands without a watch than having one on :)
Brilliant! :D
Based on the salt lick idea, Xanix for teachers of elementary students.
This is the MOST AWESOME thing I have ever seen totally HILARIOUS!!! :)
a monocle? seriously? and you say wristwatches are obsolete? funny.
Great! I use my wristwatch to put myself in business mode. When I feel the wristwatch, I must have subconsciously conditioned myself to be more energetic. When coming home, I first remove the wrist watch, because then I am in private mode :)
If you allow me to report this image (with link to here, of course) at my blog, just drop me a line. Thanks!
Think you're research is a little uninformed. If you look at real wristwatches, not throw away pieces of junk ( aka cartoon terrarium on a strap) you'll see that demand for quality mechanical watches has increased dramatically. It's a good time to be obsolete I guess.
Watches are only obsolete if you have no class.
I could sure use a Emergency Oreo watch! mmmmm...
This is a wonderful design exercise for the mind. Lighthearted in nature but still gets some wheels turning (even if only a few). in light of that I think some of you are possibly being a little to critical of this. After all good jokes are often designed off of half truths, so needless to say a cartoon might not always be the most concrete source of lists of the recently obsolete.
P.S.
A. Its a cartoon, you have no way to tell what any of it is made out of for sure. (Titanium and Leather Oreo holster anyone?) ;D
B. Did anyone consider that this might be poking fun at the assumption of something becoming obsolete and the frivolity and extravagance of some of the replacements?
Congratulations, you've just invented bracelets.
nice Yoplait reference
Cell phones are like pocket watches, at best. With a ton of other crap, besides. Not sure why kids are so gung-ho to do away with the watch other than the fact they are insecure about not being able to afford both a nice phone and a nice watch. Don't worry about it, kids. You're being limited by your own limitations (ie. "I am so money, I can't be caught DEAD with a cheap watch!"). If you can't afford it, you ain't money, so quit pretending!
