It's official--the press release just went out. SVA will offer the U.S.'s first graduate-level degree program dedicated to critical writing about design, beginning in the fall of 2008. Alice Twemlow will be chairing the new MFA Design Criticism Department (she and Steve Heller developed it), and the faculty list is the entire east-coast who's who of design writing: Kurt Andersen, Paola Antonelli, Michael Bierut, Ralph Caplan, Peter Hall, Jessica Helfand, Steven Heller, Karrie Jacobs, Julie Lasky, Cathy Leff, and Phil Patton.
