Whiplash, mystery goo, and carsickness...what's not to love about a NYC cab ride? A lot--that's what!
Design Trust for Public Space, in partnership with the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission, has gathered the city's leading design firms and schools to propose solutions for a better NYC taxi car and system.
Taxi 07's goal is to facilitate innovative new cab designs and propose improvements to the technologies, regulations, and public spaces that support the taxi system.
Implementation of these improvements is currently being pursued through the three related program initiatives of Taxi 07. These initiatives focus on encouraging design excellence, creating public awareness, and developing a taxi master plan.

The lights on current taxis actually do provide information. When the numbers are lit, that means the cab is available & not lit means it's taken. Most people don't know that because most people don't take cabs as regularly as New Yorkers.
