From milk packaging to street signage, every country has a unique cultural voice expressed through its designed objects. The AIGA recently collected examples of these ubiquitous creations in an exhibit called "Everyday Design: Great Finds From Around the World." As an attempt to foster global communication between designers and raise an awareness of traditionally unconsidered objects, the exhibit displays items of everyday use from various cultures. Debuting in April at MODDA in Culver City, CA, the show is presently on view at the AIGA National Design Center in New York through August 15th. There's also an online Global Gallery of user-generated content you can spend hours in sifting through. (Who knew Zimbabwe was all about Corn & Choco Malt cereal?!) We'd love to see this database grow - send your contributions (ahem - why didn't anyone think of toilet paper?!) to info[at]everydaydesign.org.
