Sometimes we get mail here at Core 77. Real mail. The snail kind. And sometimes that mail is just too good/weird/bizarre/indecipherable to keep to ourselves. Couldn't resist posting this lil' guy that arrived without a return address just 2 days ago. Go ahead, readers, let your comments fly...
Are there Designs of Industrial Nature involved in the defence industry? What is that job market like? Any "I.D. with clearance" postings?- AN
P.S. I look forward to your response. : ) Preferably in a blog post.
The best part is yet to come - check out the front of this postcard after the jump...

Priceless...lucky you getting such mails :-)
I like this post the most of your recent ones. This is straight up HUMAN. I like much. BTW I love your site.
it is always important to make weapons both attractive and user friendly in order to lure potential buyers AND to help them utilize their brand new toys more accurately, comfortably and intuitively.
plus, consider the broader meaning of the term User Experience. it's truly mind blowing...
yoopee --- "... mind blowing ..." LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im surprised that postcard didn't explode.
its undoubtedly written by a terrorist.
Interestingly enough, yes! There is a *huge* need for designers in the defense industry; typically the term "design" is applied as an "engineer" and while these could be seemingly much different; a lot of the skill sets are similar - think of "human factors engineering" versus ethnography collection in companies that are building requirements for their customers... Figuring how how to keep the most number of people alive while dropping bombs could definitely use more design assistance. Do understand, though, 1984's "War is Peace" has a ton of applicability in the field, so it takes understanding that moral challenges exist in all forms of commercial exchange. Please encourage the industry that design is crucial! It needs help, too, and balance.
Pointy missiles are so passe. We want something new, fresh, vibrant, something that truly expresses who we are as people, our core values, but yet is lightweight and aerodynamic.
Further defense can be accomplished with better design.
Esther and bikehard understand, yoopee does somewhat... the rest of you...I dunno.
I'm not an I.D., but I work in A&D. This is an interesting post.
