"I work like a researcher in a lab, searching for the genetic codes of materials or companies. Once I've decoded them, I inject my own gene in different places." He believes that changing this "genetic code" essentially creates a new material. "I try to use materials in places they're not normally used to give them another kind of life."
Don't miss Business Week/Metropolis's Breaking the Mold with Arik Levy on the process behind his latest products. The featured bowl is made of epoxy resin using stereolithographic 3-D printing - one of his sculptural works that demonstrate how he is using materials in new ways.

Interesting approach to design ? using materials properties to drive the design, which nature does all the time. It is also clear that the products in each collection, though very very different individually have a strong similarity, inspired here by the material properties of the medium. We are beginning to see the beautiful play of genes and geometry.
