Researchers are developing new kinds of adhesive material modeled on the soles of insects' feet. These mushroom-shaped micro hairs (photo) are the secret of this new adhesive material. Inspired by the soles of beetles' feet the surface structure of the material allows it to stick to smooth walls such as glass without any adhesives.
Potential applications range from protective foil for delicate glasses to reusable adhesive fixtures - say goodbye to fridge magnets, here come the micro hairs, which will also stick to your mirror, your cupboard and your windows.
