Noticed TIME Magazine lately? If not, check out the Most Amazing Inventions of 2005 - including Michelin's Tweel [photo by Nicholas Eveleigh]
"Tweel is a shock-absorbing rubber tread band that distributes pressure to dozens of flexible polyurethane spokes. The spokes in turn are supported by an aluminum center. Because the Tweel is airless, it is more rugged than a pneumatic tire and never goes flat."
Before calling your tire dealer, Tweel is still too noisy for automotive applications according to Michelin. But then again, application concepts are happening for the Segway Centaur and iBOT, so keep an eye on your neighbor's car.

It's a real SHAME that a big company can buy out a designers great ideas like the Tweel and then burry it in the ground so no one will ever see it again, just to sell more tires and fill up the local land fill.! You guys suck!
