Tomorrow is the 90th anniversary of Braun, the Ramsian powerhouse of clean design that, yes, has been around since 1921 and was founded by Max Braun.
After Max died in the '50s, sons Artur and Erwin Braun developed Braun Design, the dedicated design branch, in 1955. And then apparently some guy named Dieter came along and sort of, like, changed the face of industrial design as we know it, ushered in a German design renaissance and planted influences that we still see in products today.
With typical German restraint, Braun has no splashy banners all over their homepage announcing the anniversary. They do, however, have a sexy slideshow of their design hits posted here.

Thank you Braun for all the clean, ingeniously designed eye candy.
Without you, who knows what Apple products would look like today. :-P
BTW...I've always wanted one of these fans:

Perhaps Braun isn't making such a big deal because they're no longer such a big deal. Their design presence is almost completely lost now, and their selection of household goods is minimal. I have a Braun shaver that shaves great but who's shape is completely forgettable. However, I could draw you a perfect rendering of the previous one I had. A Braun Micron 3508.
People, even you journalist, miss that Dieter Rams did not start the design team and lines of Braun but Hans Gugelot, also teacher of ULM University, who died abruptly and then, Dieter took the head of the team.
Wow this looks an AWEFUL lot like the Visa "Go" work that AKQA did not too long ago. Interesting...
