For the poor man's way of getting a wide-angle lens, take a trip to the hardware store; a ten-dollar front door peephole is the perfect diameter to hold over the tiny lens of most digicams.
Looks like HK-based Brando had the same idea, but with cell phone cameras in mind. Their Mobile Phone Telescope (left) costs only 19 bucks and apparently has a 6x zoom; the odd thing is it's only custom-fitted for Motorola Razrs, destroying the one thing that made that phone desirable. For a more generic fit you can try their well-named Generic Mobile Phone Telescope (right), which is inexplicably more expensive than the custom job.
