If you liked Vanessa Marie's Night & Day Backpack for Cycling, you might want to make like Mike Mandiberg; he wrapped his bike in Retroreflective Vinyl, meaning it looks dark black but turns bright white when a headlight beam shines on it. The amazing material--Scotchlite 680, to be exact--can be ordered from New Jersey's Beacon Graphics.

where do I buy this tape ?
Reflective vinyl is awesome stuff. I work with it all the time. I actually have reflective orange racing numbers on the doors of my Lotus Elise right now. ChuforiaGraffix.com
So sad that cyclists have to spend the time and effort to retrofit their bikes to be visible instead of having manufacturers realize that visibility is important for riders and incorporating retro-reflectivity and lights as standard equipment on their bikes.
Check with your local sign maker!! These films are used daily at most sign shops and I am sure they could be gotten for a relatively low cost. You could even have them do some custom cutting for you so you can personalize your bike!
