If you Google the name of the prolific designer Naoto Fukasawa, you'll get a list of achievements--his Muji-by-way-of-MoMA CD player, the furniture he did for Magis, his role in the iconic brand Plus Minus Zero, the fact that he set up IDEO's Tokyo branch. What you won't get is his complete story and journey as a designer, which is why Metropolis' article on Fukasawa is such a breath of fresh air.
Brian Ashcraft's article follows Fukasawa from a nervous non-English-speaking designer who brought a translator with him on a job interview to the polished, fluently bilingual designer who runs his own highly successful firm in Shibuya. Says IDEO CEO Tim Brown, "Naoto has gone from somebody who crafts objects to somebody who crafts relationships with objects."

I really like the way this Designer has innovated in this product. Its really difficult to make a difference in an object which is all the time with us and seen everywhere.
