If you're cursed with limited space, but blessed with exposed beams, look up. You're a prime spatially-challenged candidate for this simple and effective DIY rafter storage solution that involves some plywood planks and screws/nails. It's a brilliant everyday solution for ceilings just within fingertips' reach, and if higher than that, a long-term stowaway spot for books you'll never read again and miscellaneous pack rat bric-a-brac.

Apartments are getting more expensive and smaller. Creative storage means all the world when you live in a little studio. I found a great design by Sloom and Slordig. check it out here.http://24-7designheaven.com/24-7dh/2007/10/sloom-slordig-organized-chaos.php
Good idea but in case of an earthquake what will happen?
Mohammad, don't be ridiculous. An earthquake? The major problem here would be sound attenuation between floors. Its still a nice solution though.
