Loving this idea: Films on Fridges is "East London's newest temporary outdoor cinema built primarily out of discarded fridges."

The idea was inspired by "Fridge Mountain," a pile of discarded refrigerators so large it was visible on Google Maps (see photo above). London city officials had the Mountain carted off during the cleanup for the 2012 Olympics, and the largely anonymous team of volunteers behind Film on Fridges decided it was time to assemble another one, this time assembled into something large enough to project movies onto.

At the Progress section of their website, you can see the FoF team scouring a dump in Wales to harvest, measure and prepare the fridges for carting. All of that wasn't without costs, of course, so tickets to screenings aren't quite free, but are manageable at 10 pounds. And so far the project has been a success: Of the upcoming and recently-held screenings listed here, you'll see a bunch have been sold out.
