Here's a video on the design of cell phones, interviewing an industrial designer, a mechanical engineer, and a human factors expert at Motorola. While the video's interesting and the interviewees are articulate, it still doesn't explain why Motorola's UI drives me nuts!

I was excited about my RAZR when I got it, but the UI as well, convinced me to never use another Motorola phone again. Ever.
What a load of cr.. a cheap commercial for Motorola. But it just shows how little they developed all these years. As like other cell phone companies, they produce the same cell phones, that look all alike , with the same fetchers. It looks like except the software, nothing changed for at least 10 years.
"it still doesn't explain why Motorola's UI drives me nuts!" that's very true. good design means very little if the software is buggy and nonintuitive. example: sony vaio x microsoft windows OS.
It drove me nuts as well, and I didn't even own one. My wife did... and it drove me nuts because every time she picked the phone up by grabbing the sides, she'd inadvertently turn the ringer off so the phone wouldn't ring when I tried to call her. She replaced it after a couple of months with a Samsung model and we're both much happier.
