This is such an awesome concept and no, I have no idea how it would actually work. Moscow-based designer Igor Lobanov's Sprout pen concept reveals the ink within its clear body in the form of a plant-like sprout. As you use the pen, over time the ink diminishes and the sprout shrinks as if dying.

Too depressing?
No worries: When you stick the pen into its inkwell—gotta love that, so old-school—the pen fills with ink, "growing" the sprout.

i feel like it's possible if it can maintain negative pressure within the sprout... i suppose the difficulty is keeping it air tight?
Interesting indeed, but how will it work! It would certain be depressing to see the sprout dying as you use the pen...its almost like murdering it by using it (despite the new lease of life it gets by the inkwell)...
I would rather see a real plant grow as the ink is used up. It could be watered by placing it in something that looks like an inkwell.
