You've all seen this sucker before:

The venerable Heinz ketchup packet above has been around since 1968. Forty-two years later, they finally got around to a re-design. The new packet holds three times as much ketchup--perfect for me, since I normally use three of the old packets for the average order of fries--and can be used in "squeeze and pour" or "dipping" mode:

I'm guessing Heinz caved in to our greed
Does anyone know which design causes more plastic waste?
Once again, proof that design will destroy the world. Thanks for all the extra plastic Heinz.
Just what the world needs. More plastic in the landfills. Would someone be a hero and start making containers out of bio-polymers that decompose in 90 days after being exposed to dirt, i.e. buried in landfill?
All of you hippy's quit complaining about plastic u make me sick this is the best invention ever. U know how much of a pain in the ass it is when u love ketchup and those stupid little packets give you enough for one french fry....raises my blood pressure just thinkin about it. Thank god heinz finally wized up
Ham is obviously very intelligent.
Looks like more packaging but also looks like it contains more ketchup. It would be interesting to see which actually uses more. But regardless, individually wrapped anything is stupid.
@Jacob
individually wrapped anything is stupid
Condoms aren't stupid...
@Jason -
You only open one at a time?
Please get off the plastic-waste-soapbox just this once. Individually wrapped products are not stupid for drive-thru and take out. For home, yes. But if you don't approve, then there is a simple solution: don't use it!
Jacob... yup! THREE TIMES as much ketchup!
This reminds me of the current chicken nugget dipping sauces with the addition of an optional tear to squeeze tab. So ketchup just joined the dipping sauce container group.
