I can't help myself: This Memphis collection was posted through the Core77 comments section in response to "Bodum's bringin' Memphis back," and it is truly an amazing archive. You don't even have to like Memphis to marvel at it.

The entire collection has been assembled and documented over the past 20 years by Dennis Zanone, an avid Memphis collector in none other but Memphis, Tennessee. Pictures of all his pieces (both in and out of context) are posted to his flickrstream, which is a true treasure-trove of visuals and information.
And yes, in case you're wondering, he does have the Tawaraya boxing ring bed, which can be seen through the door in the top picture and below (also, notice the decidedly non-Memphis TV perched on the lower right—this makes me love it all the more). On this piece, he comments, "This is my bed and I feel like I live in a cartoon!"

See all the images on Flickr or join Zanone's fan base at Facebook. For more primary information on Memphis, revisit this NYTimes article from 1986.
A few more from his collection after the jump.

Thanks but Karl Lagerfeld had the "best collection ever" mine is a distant second to what his was but mine might be the biggest now. It's not about size but quality. Keep you posted on the museum exhibition and travel possibilities of the collection. DZ
do. want.
I have some of the more common pieces shown that I bought 25 years ago. Many of the pieces shown I wanted then, but could not afford them. A great sellection of Memphis
