Perhaps you've seen this humble item,

Ikea's $1.99 Plastis ice tray, which makes long, cylindrical pieces of ice that fit inside water bottles.
Instructables member trebuchet03 has a clever Plastis hack--he jury-rigs it up with strategically-placed plastic straws before freezing the water, creating a center-line void. Once it's done, he removes the plastic straws and voila--a drinking straw made of ice!

It's just a matter of time before this hack makes its way into a New York bar to hasten the consumption of cocktails.
Comments
A) Would the liquid be in the straw long enough to adequately cool it (assuming there wouldn't also be cubes in the drink)?
B) Will my lips stick to it, precipitating a need for firemen and a clumsy gauze bandage??
