When it comes to shoveling snow, there's not a terribly high number of product design innovations, but we gathered what we could.
Black Diamond's Deploy snow shovel telescopes for storage, making it a handy thing to keep in the trunk;
both the Sno-Dozer Rolling Snow Shovel and the Ohio Steel Snow Pusher have little wheels to make the task easier;
the Sno-Wovel's large center wheel looks positively Victorian, but provides the leverage necessary to pitch the shoveled snow out in front of you;
this guy is hoping to Lance Armstrong a path for himself;
and lastly the Super Nova Snow Shovel claims to "[Turn] a 45 minute CHORE into a 5 minute Non-Event," though it offers no explanation as to how it works, and the inventor looks like he's ready to whip somebody's ass with it.

I love the wovel. I used one during one of our worst winters for snow and ice in Iowa and it rocked. Plus, you don't smell like a mix of gas and oil when it is done.
I would recommend getting the metal strip that lines the plastic scooper. That will make all the difference in the snow and ice. I' shredded my first scooper.
I also like the new collapsible design. It would certainly make more room in my garage.
While I do love it, when it is really freakin' cold out I fire up the snow blower to get it done in a hurry.
My fellow man neighbors give me weird looks when I use it. So be secure in your man-power if you buy one.
funny you should mention that, i've been rocking my mountaineering shovel in the trunk for many winters!
