The thing that's always driven me nuts about using a Wacom tablet is having to set the pen down to type a keyboard shortcut and pick it back up again. It breaks the workflow and harshes my CAD Zen.
Kelvin Geis' PenMoto concept on Kickstarter is the perfect solution. After seeing the video demo of how the pen and magnet ring work, every CAD jockey, photo retoucher and touch-tablet stylus user is going to want one of these:
There's 36 days left in the pledging period, with a modest target of 40 large to make this one happen.

why cant you just hold it between your thumb and palm like i do when you use the keyboard? NOt saying this isnt a cool idea, but necessary... by no means.
ptermclean, I understand that it is not for everyone.
However, if you try one out I think that you might change your mind. I needed it because I use my right thumb for the space bar and couldn't break the habit. I also liked to switch to a mouse at times as well as accessing the hotkeys or shortcuts with my right hand. Not to even mention answering the phone and then needing to find my pen again.
Let us change your opinion ptermclean.
I think this is could be particularly useful for switching to the eraser side of the stylus pen (I currently throw mine up and rotate it in the air, as i find it easier than rotating the stylus in my hand). The only downside i can see is that the pen attachment doesn't slide up or down the shaft of the stylus, which means i'm forced to constantly hold it in the same position.
this is such a cool simple idea, i think its brilliant.
best of luck launching it.
all tough im not sure about the name, penMoto sounds a bit like a car accessory.
still think the product will do well.
I think there was a similar idea not long time ago, but ring and pen were integrated.
I've had a cool accesory for all the keyboard/multi-touch tasks while using a Wacom pen: it's called a left hand. And it does a lot more stuff too...
Regarding the pen spinning, let's just say I can do it without "training wheels".
That said, I should mention I'm a drummer, which helps with the drumstick spinning and my hands' simetric abilities.
I don't find this to be a major problem to anyone though (except the handicaped, maybe?) but I like the solution. And this is a very good explanatory video.
Maybe not a necessary idea, but defiantly a great one, as a student at the time this would speed up writing an essay in class, or jaunting down notes as i am searching information from the web, I love it! so sad that it is cancelled. would have been a big seller in school supply stores and what not.
