No batteries? No problem. Berkley-based Zen Design Group is releasing SEE (Safety, Ecology and Economy), a line of toys featuring LEDs powered by a hand crank, which are obviously a heck of a lot more environmentally friendly than anything requiring an energy source.
"I wasn't trying to be trendy," confesses Zen President Sun Yu. "I looked at my product line one day and thought about how nice it would be to not have to replace and purchase batteries." Hence the handcrank, and as anyone who has children will tell you, toys that tucker the little tots out are a fantastic idea.
