Manfrotto's nifty Modo Pocket is the world's smallest tripod (well, quadropod, actually). Folds up and fits in your pocket, neatly replacing the 10- and 20-dollar bill you spent on it--s'right, it's selling for about 30 bucks on Amazon.
Read a review of the Modo Pocket here.

can someone tell me why this is better than just setting your camera down on a flat surface?
It might just be useful for outside environment, ground, dirt, sand, grass?
well chris, i guess it keeps the bottom of your camera clean...
Also, i thought the beauty of tripods was that they had three legs, seeing as three points define a plane etc. Wouldn't this thing just rock or wobble if it were on an uneven surface?
The Pod (http://www.thepod.ca/red%20pod%20page.html) seems like a much better choice.
I've had it for a few years and it does work very well.
judging from the pictures you can easily shoot macro pictures without hassle by varying angle of the tripod, this especially comes handy when you have to shot from top.
