What do designers do when they've had enough and they leave the fold? Years ago ex-Droog designer Martin Guixe announced, during a speech at the International Design Conference, that he actually hated objects and would be exiting the field.
"I have considered that I will buy perhaps two chairs in my lifetime," said Guixe, "but I buy food three times a day." With those words he then turned his attention to designing, you guessed it, food. Guixe's 7-step cookie, top left, provides an eat-by-numbers guide to consuming it, and his pie-graph cake, right, seems designed to delight sweet-toothed Chief Financial Officers.
Guixe was honored last month in Milan with an exhibit of his work titled "Marti Guixe, 10 Years of Food Design," which we were alas too-late-to-the-party to cover. But you can still check out the morsels displayed here. There are also some great photos of the exhibit (taken by a Japanese blogger) here, at a Google-translated page.
