California-based designer Sara Paculdo has a Masters in ID and a Bachelors in Physics, giving her a good combination of technical/analytical thinking and creativity, as evidenced by her Flat Chair.

As someone who is currently an engineer student looking to go for a masters in ID, its very encouraging to see others who have gone the same route.
This could definitely have a major impact on shipping, and the chair itself is adorable. But how difficult is it to put together? Could your average end-user handle a project of this complexity?
