Shipmaker Dockwise manufacturers "Semi-Submersibles," cargo ships designed to sink partially underwater to release cargo into the sea. Floating platforms, smaller ships and the like can be carried by Dockwise ships straight to their waterbound destination.
Seen here is video of the Dockwise Swan doing its thing off the coast of Staten Island yesterday. Alarmed onlookers, thinking the ship was sinking, phoned it in to 911.
