By now most of you have seen the Flatshare Fridge designed by Stefan Buchberger, but have a look at the other winners of the 2008 Electrolux Design Lab. From a basket-style washing machine to a toaster that burns the day's weather forecast into the bread, the entries are far-reaching, varied in concept, and presented with a pretty high degree of polish.

I think burning things into toast is the epitome of pointless design. It reduces the quality of the toast (plaid and pointless--they could at least use negative design like the hello Kitty toaster does) and by the time you add a spread you can't see the design/text anyway.
Why would anyone want to get weather read outs on their bread? Would it be more easy and quicker to just display the infos on a digital display? ELECTROSUX.
What's more, this was widely publicized as a student project seven years ago:

Must agree i find all the other entrants designs quite interesting but am increasinly annoyed at how much attention this USB toaster is receiving. It serves no purpose and further more has been done countless times before.
For me my personal favorite is the clothes, gorgeous sculptural design which would fit in most modern styled apartments.
could it be all to do with brand awareness for electrolux in korea, and east asian countries? are they trying to get a younger generation of buyers to buy their fridges and washing machines, as oppose to competitors like LG, Samsung?
