The Redfly Mobile Companion is an interesting interface device--it's essentially a magnifying glass for your cell phone/PDA. It looks like a laptop, but it's essentially "empty," data-wise; the Redfly connects to your smartphone and displays whatever is on its screen, but larger, and allows you to interact with the phone through a proper keyboard. Best of all, if you lose the Redfly (12,000 lost laptops per year at U.S. airports alone, according to Gizmodo), there's no data loss--it's just an empty husk. But yeah, lose the smartphone and you're screwed.
Here's an article with thoughts on using the Redfly by Enderle Group's Rob Enderle, via Dark Reading.
