Loxolop is a new folding lamp from Dutch visual artist Ebére Groenouwe, and is maybe one of the more complicated flatpack shades we've ever seen. Two complex shapes somehow fold together. This complexity isn't to the detriment of the lamp, however—we like that the user is asked to use their brain a little bit, especially when the result is a fairly complex, original, biomimetic shape suggesting flower petals, insect wings, and rabbit ears.
Also noteworthy is the cradling of the bulb in the paper shade to create diffuse light. It appears that the bunny ears help balance the light socket at an angle, so that it shines into the interior of the shape, reflecting diffuse light into the room without any appearance of a hot spot.

The shades, made by hand from waste paper generated by the juice packaging industry, are available from Ebére for €39,95.
