Shay Carmon and Ben Klinger, of Israel-based Studio Ve, have designed a new series of clever shelves that preserve the material convention of wooden planks and steel bookends while proposing new shelving arrangements.
For example, the Eli Shelf, pictured first, stands on end, for "the pile of standby books, always waiting to be returned to the shelf." The Newton shelf, pictured second, holds a special, favorite book within the plank, "defying gravity."

The Nissan shelf uses the book ends as the supports, while the wooden plank leans, noncommittally, against the wall.

Finally, the Domina shelf is designed to highlight the Domino effect created so often in half-filled libraries.
