Tomato are trying their hand at footwear again after the semi-successful reflective Underworld/Tomato Adidas Superstar shoe they did for for the 35th Anniversary Music Series.

They recently posted these pics of a Birkenstock sandal sample due for release in spring 2009. Much closer in style to their signature typographic approach than the treatment of the Superstar, the sandal will only be available at the Birkenstock shop in Tokyo's hip Daikanyama neighborhood.
